Kerala is considered as the land
of letters. The percentage of literacy in the state
is 93%. There are numerous formal educational institutions,
schools and colleges in the state. Graduation and
Diploma courses in Engineering Technology are offered
to students after competitive examinations and only
those who have secured high grades can join these
professional courses. Unemployment among graduated
youth is very high in Kerela. The right course for
the right job is seldom offered. The importance of
computer training courses that average students can
undergo is to be taken into account, to solve this
crucial unemployment of educated youth.
The computer training wing of Nirmalagiri College
was inaugurated on 16th August 1991 by
the former labour minister of Kerala Sri. N. Ramakrishnan.
Situated in an independant and new building, the section
is enriched with well designed class rooms, well equipped
laboratory with a host of computers and a well-furnished
library. This was made possible incurring heavy expenses
to cater to the ever growing and never dying demand
from the seekers of professional courses and advanced
vocational training.
In the wake of globalization, the
students have to cope up with international requirements
in IT field by acquiring highly technical and internationally
certified courses.
